Our journey started in the Tropical North, in Darwin. We stayed there only for a short while to make our stocks and buy some more stuff to make us feel at home in our camper. Our first stop was Litchfield, marketed something like a beginners National Park with some soft 4WD tracks.
We moved on direction Kakadu Nationalpark, where we enjoyed a wonderful sunset walk and a breath taking sun overlooking the neverending wetlands. The morning tour - starting at 6:00 - was one of the highlights on this part of the trip as well Koolpin Gorge. We had been lucky enough to get a short term permit and enjoyed this remote place.
Kathrine Gorge was crowded that time of the year, so we quickly moved on to Nitmiluk - Edith Falls. The walk up to the higher pools was hot and hard, but the outlook and the swim made up for it. Simply great!
We enjoyed the tropical climate and that there was always an opportunity for a relaxed swim in the afternoon. We got familiar with our camper and Equipment and felt well prepared for the next part - approaching Gibb River Road.
